Designed especially to carry you on Ocean Engineering White-Water Rivers. This River Raft is also an off-sim vehicle that cam paddle up to 50 meters off the edge of your island into the Void Sea.

If you have and island or property on the edge of a sim, it looks like there is water off the edge but you normally cannot go there. Some people call this the Void Sea. Off-sim extenders allow you to place objects out there to improve the view, but until now you could not paddle out there yourself. Now you can paddle out to your off-sim extensions and check them out! This Raft breaks the barrier at the edge of the sim by paddling your avatar up to 40 meters into the Void Sea. It is possible to paddle all the way around your island if you have permission to be along the shore. Do you have Linden Water on your property? The Raft can seamlessly cross over and paddle on-sim as well.

You can leave the Raft prop and paddle on your property for your friends to use. The paddle ise copyable by anyone.

If some of your off-sim extenders are Ocean Engineering Off-Sim waves, whirlpools, rocks or rip currents, you will be able to ride those features! Finally, the Raft will also work at skybox altitudes!

HOWEVER, there is a price to pay for all this. The River Raft is not a high-performance vehicle. To work off-sim it must use a hybrid-non-physical movement that is sometimes jerky. It will surf Ocean Engineering Off-Sim waves, but will not surf the excellent on-sim waves made by others in SL. But to use those other waves on your own property, you need to give up thousands of square meters of land to water. If you just want to casually paddle off your own beach and you have shorefront property on the Void Sea, this Raft will make that possible.

Controlling your River Raft:

The Raft is paddled by using the normal motion controls. This can be done using the mouse in the motion control dialog, by pressing the alphabetic motion keys, by pressing the arrow keys on the keyboard or even in mouse-look mode. Like walking your avatar, sometimes these keys do not work unless you close the local chat box or click on your avatar first.

Up Arrow or 'w' key causes the Raft to accelerate forward.
Down Arrow or 's' key causes the Raft to accelerate backwards.
Right Arrow or 'd' key causes your Raft to turn right at a normal rate.
Left Arrow or 'a' key turns your Raft to the left at a normal rate.
Shift Right Arrow or 'D' makes the Raft turn faster to the right.
Shift Left Arrow or 'A' turns the Raft at a faster rate to the left.
Page-Up or 'e' key adjusts the Raft higher in the water for larger avatars
Page-Down or 'c' key adjusts the Raft lower in the water for smaller avatars

You can turn normally and accelerate forward at the same time by holding two buttons down, but while turning fast with the SHIFT key you cannot accelerate forward at the same time.

On the movement control dialog, the turn-right turn-left arrows cause you to turn normally, while the move-right and move-left arrows make you turn fast. This is a little different than walking since a Raft cannot go sideways.

Paddling in Mouse-Look Mode:

Yes! The Raft works in mouse-look mode and this gives you the greatest amount of control. Get into mouse-look mode by pressing 'm' or zooming “into” your avatar with the mouse scroll wheel. Now moving the mouse left and right turns the Raft rapidly (no shift key necessary) and the forward/backward keys works as before to accelerate. Moving the mouse forward and back allows you to look down at your Raft deck or up at a wave rising to break over your head!
