The Name "Zeffiro" is more commonly known as "Zephyr" in english, meaning a "light breeze". Zeffiro, like Fortuna, Avventura, and Delfino before it, is an italian Ship in the "tartana" style.
This Light Class Fighting Ship combines the best of European and Arabic building and sailing techniques into one ship. The giant Lateen Sail provides plenty of power both into and with the wind, while the Jib allows it to "point higher" than a ship with just a lateen sail.
Her hull shape is double ended like that of an Arabic dhow, but is more sturdy and heavier built with a system of inner ribs and metal fasteners instead of lacing the planks together. The double ended style also gives the ship several advantages in both battle and a hard sea. The bow like stern parts following waves that would swamp the ship and her stern is better protected against being raked by an opposing ship.
Being a stereotypical Light Class ship, she has four guns in two banks of two in the broadside position. Lacking Chasers, she needs to turn to unleash her full ability with the cannon. Along with the Captain, there are spaces for two crew members, each sitting on one of the barrels mid-ship.
While stronger in battle than a gunboat or Longboat, she is still weaker than a typical sloop. Only 14 HP separate the floating from sinking. She will need a cunning captain who can use her speed and maneuverability to both attack and defend against her enemies. In the right hands, Zeffiro is deadly, sailed clumsily, she will quickly find herself sitting on the bottom.
A welcome addition to the Black Rose Family of ships, I can only hope that she falls into the hands of a captain who can appreciate and get the best from her. I hope that is you.

Very pleased
Even though it's a boat made for sea battles it's a graceful sailboat. Of all of this kind of ship , Black Rose Shipyard look the best to me. The styling, the kind of rigging, and that it's modify appeal to me. I just sail it when I'm not fighting. The maker was also kind to me when I asked for a texture.
When you do get to battle, never stop moving. This was my first fighting ship and I played to my strength: basic sailing. If you like not getting caught, then the Zeffiro might be for you too .
