Observation Craft - Starbase Fleet
[29 prims]
A strange alien artefact has been sighted orbiting a nearby sun... an unexpected stellar phenomenon have been reported close by... A newly discovered planet wants checking out... Send in the Observation Team!
This Observation craft from Exosphere Corp. has been designed for missions that require all-round visibility. The pilot and observation crew have a full view of the surroundings as you cruise gently past to take a good look at what's going on down there. Of course, you can also use it as a general shuttle.
Features include:
- All round visibility
- Very easy to fly
- Auto stabilisers
- Pilot & three crew seats
- Gull wing doors, extendible ramps
Automatic stabilisers.
The craft is fitted out with auto-stabilisers, that prevent it from tipping about while in motion. You are assured of a steady, smooth flight. Your crew can even leave their seats and walk around the cabin when you're hovering, but take care to get them sitting down again before you move off, for their own safety.
Doors and ramps:
There are two side-opening gull-wing doors that swing vertically open on touch. Inside each door frame is a ramp that will deploy on touch and outwards and fold down, then extend along its length until it touches the ground. Remember to retract the ramps before closing the doors and remember to close the doors before take off! And don't open them during flight or you'll panic the techies sat in the rear.
Seats:
There are three observer's tech seats at the rear, each pointing in a different direction. Your craft can carry up to three crew or passengers (or more if they are prepared to stand). The pilot's seat is posed and the pilot needs to be seated to engage the engine.
Once hovering, you can travel anywhere. Use the arrow keys to propel the craft forwards or backwards. Use the left and right arrow keys to turn (you can do this while moving forwards or while hovering). You can use Shift-Left/Right arrows to move sideways, too.
If you bring your craft to a halt during flight, it will hold it's position, but will slowly start to descend due to gravity constraints. This is useful for accurate parking - just position yourself over the landing pad and it will slowly lower itself down.
Dangerous Manoeuvre Alert!
You can actually get out of the pilot's seat during flight, and take a walk around the cabin. The craft will hold it's position in space and will stay precisely in position until you've return to your seat. BUT, once you take your seat again, the engines will need to be re-engaged as quickly as possible, otherwise the craft will begin to plummet to the nearest gravitational attraction point (usually the ground). It will continue to fall, taking you and your crew straight down...down... down... unless you re-engage the engine before impact and pull out of the dive. This is a spectacular, show-stopping manoeuvre to pull off - but you may want to practice it a few times on your own, first. Looks amazing, though!
These craft are all scaled perfectly for use with the Exosphere Modules such as the Landing Terminal and the Landing Bay.
- Very easy to fly (just use arrow keys)
